The FAA Logistics Center (FAALC) in Oklahoma City manages the acquisition of spare parts and contract management, fabricates and repairs stock spares for field maintenance, and provides project management to support the National Air Space. It supports approximately 8,000 customers, supplying approximately 100,000 parts annually to the Department of Transportation, Department of Defense, state agencies and foreign countries. In order to handle the projected demand increases with the same level of operational availability, the FAALC made the decision to update its cadre of legacy technologies used to support its supply chain- under a project they called Logistics Center Support System (LCSS). Plantensive was contracted in a Program Support role and worked early on in the program to define a comprehensive software acquisition strategy while working with executive leadership and FAA subject matter experts to define project requirements, conduct research, build a high level program schedule and develop team member roles and responsibilities during the acquisition phase. Additionally, Plantensive was tasked with facilitating working sessions and workshops with LCSS stakeholders to educate them on modern ERP systems and functionality in maintenance, repair operations, and to outline benefits and conceptualize the future state of the LCSS Program. During the project, Plantensive was retained by the LCSS Program Management Office to provide system testing, quality assurance and requirements traceability through the design and build phases of the project. Plantensive also provided Organizational Change Management support to project executive stakeholders to advise them on strategies to deploy the LCSS system to a complex user community.
Plantensive has been a subcontractor to IBM and CACI on the Navy ERP Program since the inception of this major ERP system implementation. As one of the largest SAP project rollouts in history, the Plantensive Team has participated in cross functional working groups through the business process reengineering and system design, business requirements refinement, master data strategy development, SAP solution configuration, testing and deployment phases of the project across multiple Navy System Commands. Now that Navy ERP is in a sustainment operation, Plantensive has been retained to provide supply planning subject matter expertise and master data management support in Annapolis, Philadelphia, and Mechanicsburg. In January 2016, after winning a recompete award, we’ve teamed again with CACI International to provide ongoing SAP system lifecycle management support as the majority of the Program operations move to the Business Systems Center located in Mechanicsburg, PA. Our ongoing support of the US Navy ERP Program will include working within various functional teams to refine Navy ERP through functional designs of new requirements, engineering change requests, user training, master data monitoring and validation, reporting and analytics, and subject matter expertise for Navy supply planning with SAP technologies.
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) supplies nearly all of the consumable items America’s military forces need to operate – from food, fuel and energy to uniforms, medical supplies and construction material. DLA oversees a work force of more than 25,000 civilian and military employees across nine supply chains managing more than 5 million items and works in 48 states and 28 foreign countries. The Defense Logistics Agency is one of Plantensive’s oldest and most recurring clients. Plantensive began operations in 2002 supporting several key supply chain transformation projects: DLA Distribution Planning & Management System (DPMS), DLA Strategic Material Sourcing (SMS), and the DLA Business Systems Modernization (now called Enterprise Business System). In each of these projects Plantensive provided subject matter expertise in supply chain planning and technology expertise working directly with DLA user community and executive leadership in several J-Code organizations. From there Plantensive also provided a team that held project track leadership roles in the DLA Customer Relationship Management Program – a large SAP CRM implementation project. Since these large scale projects, Plantensive has continued to work project engagements at DLA – particularly with the J6 and J3 Organizations – to provide supply chain planning subject matter expertise, business system analysis and modernization recommendations, as well as assessments of the DLA Demand and Supply planning organizations to provide actionable recommendations to modernize business processes and workforce transitions in order to support an evolving DLA customer base.
